What is a BER?
A Building Energy Rating (BER) Cert is an assessment of your homes energy efficiency. A BER Cert grades a home on a scale of A to G. Better rated homes benefit from less energy loss and therefore lower energy costs as well lower CO2 emmissions.
Who Needs A BER?
All properties for sale or rent in Ireland require a BER Cert. ​

Green Mortgage: Many Irish Banks are offering reduced mortgage rates if you have a more efficient home. In most cases this means attaining a B3 or higher. It is recommended to speak to your mortgage provider to ensure the option of a green mortgage is available before booking your BER Assessment.

Grants: Home energy grants available to home owners through SEAI require a BER Cert to be issued in order to qualify. More information on grants available through SEAI can be found here.
